MP George Hollingbery visits L&S Waste

Member of Parliament for Meon Valley, George Hollingbery, has praised L&S Waste Management for its innovative volumetric concrete operation, following a visit to its Fareham based head office.

Mr Hollingbery was invited to meet with L&S Waste Management managing director, Mick Balch, to discuss proposed new policies put forward by the Department for Transport (DfT), which would see changes to volumetric plant industry regulations.

Following these discussions, Mr Hollingbery was given a demonstration of the state of the art L&S Volumetric Concrete Mixer (VCM) plant, which offer a number of commercial and environmental advantages. VCM plants eliminate the risk of over-ordering ingredients and eliminating any associated waste, allowing the mix to be tailored on-site or altered due to changing weather conditions, and enabling users to complete projects more quickly.

Balch said: “L&S Concrete is an important and rapidly expanding part of our business. We have invested significantly in the most advanced volumetric plant and are now the largest operator of these type of vehicles in the south.

“We are delighted that Mr Hollingbery has shown an interest in our operation and, as a successful businessman and entrepreneur himself, he was quick to see the benefits of this type of operation to the construction industry.”

Hollingbery said: “Its encouraging to see companies within my constituency that are thriving and investing in new technology and infrastructure. It is also good to see some of the environmental initiatives being employed at L&S Waste, such as the use of recycled aggregate in its concrete.”

L&S Waste employs more than 100 people at its facilities across Portsmouth and Southampton and is currently looking to expand the team as the ambitious firm continues to grow.
