Investment yields strong results for L&S Waste

Defero client L&S Waste Management has invested almost than £1.8 million in its growing fleet of vehicles. L&S, which now operates a fleet of more than 70 skip, grab, concrete and waste collection vehicles from its depots across Portsmouth, Fareham and Southampton, will take delivery of the new vehicles in the coming weeks.

The investment comes on the back of a record year for the firm, with its turnover in 2017 exceeding £21m. The firm attributes its success to its continued investment in staff, infrastructure and new technology.

The new fleet comprises six tipper trucks, six skip lorries, and two grab lorries. The vehicles will incorporates the latest Euro 6 engines and adhere to both the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) and the Construction Logistics and Cyclist Safety (CLOCS) Standards. Thus ensuring that L&S operates the safest, most advanced and environmentally friendly vehicles on the road.

The forward thinking firm has also invested significantly in its staff training programme to ensure that the highest levels of customer service are met. It has also implemented innovative hand-held smart technology across its fleet of drivers to ensure a smoother, altogether more effective customer experience.

Commenting on the business growth and recent investments, managing director Mick Balch said: “The waste industry hasn’t always had the best reputation for its customer service – but we have for a number of years worked hard to turn that perception around. Our industry is no different to any other in that service is often the biggest differentiator. Perhaps this is even more important in the construction industry, where timely waste collection or concrete provision can make a huge difference to progress on site.

“It’s no secret that the key to our success has been in no small part down to our investment in service improvements and new technology designed to ensure a more efficient process.”

L&S now employs a team of 150 people and operates both the largest fleet of skip lorries and volumetric concrete vehicles in Hampshire. The firm offers a full range of waste and recycling solutions including skip hire, grab lorries, aggregates, ready mixed concrete and a concrete pumping service.
