Amicus ITS Donate £750 to Southampton Young Carers Project for new hub

Award winning IT support company, Amicus ITS, handed over a cheque for £750 to Southampton Young Carers Project

The Totton based company raised the money for the charity with numerous fundraising activities from bake offs, to competitive games and craft projects.

The money raised will help set up the new Young Carers Hub where children and young people can come together, share their experiences and enjoy enrichment activities.

Rebecca O’Mara, Head of Business Services at Amicus ITS said:  “As an organisation a lot of our customers are in the healthcare environment, so supporting services that directly assist young people to have a better quality of life was an easy focus for our staff efforts”.

Julie Marron, Team Leader of SYCP said: “We work to raise aspirations, self-esteem, self-confidence and reduce the negative impacts relating to having an onerous caring role within a family.

“Young Carers often lack the opportunities that their peers do, so we have provided a base for them, where they have weekly homework support, air hockey table, games, as well as an area for relaxation for young carers to access the Internet or listen to music. The generous donation from Amicus ITS will help us purchase and maintain these resources.”

Southampton Young Carers are currently on the look out for or volunteers, anyone interested should contact 023 80 216038.
